The man without a hat
- in collaboration with
Orlando De La Vega- Awada (my then 8-year old son)

Illustrations for children's book of the same title.

"The Man without a hat" is essentially an experimental adventure. Both the text and the illustrations were made for the sake of trying something new and fun. In that adventure, my then eight-year-old son, Orlando De La Vega-Awada, teamed up with me to illustrate all the buildings and many other elements of the book, which I then coloured and incorporated into the main illustrations.

You will notice that the characters are not all the same in the illustrations. This is because after I had come up with the original ones (the blue ones), a number of publishers asked me to change the characters and I attempted to come up with different styles, none of which totally convinced me, and I personally still prefer the blue characters.

"The man without a hat" is about feeling different, having a different view of the world and searching for the right community that will welcome you and help you grow.
